What's the Rage?

On April 27th several severe storms and tornadoes touched down across the southeast shattering lives and homes. The state of Alabama received the majority of the damage. The state is still in the grips of the devastating reality and the numerous casualties. We are rebuilding but with so much destruction it is a slow process.

Due to the widespread tragedy and horrendous damage statewide most of the attention is understandably going to the more densely populated areas such as Tuscaloosa and Pratt City. Yet there are so many rural communities which were also affected by this panic. Among them are the rural communities of Eoline (Bibb County) and Sawyerville (Hale County).

Rage Against the Wind is an idea formulated by a handful of local musicians and others who wanted to make a difference, but in a unique way - by bringing a youthful spirit to the fight to rebuild what was taken in a brief moment.

On June 20th the Rage Against the Wind benefit compilation album featuring several Alabama artists, many from the Bibb County area, will be released to the public. 100% of the proceeds from this album will go to storm victims in the counties of Bibb and Hale. No money will be donated to any organization, rather it will go directly from the hands of White Wash Productions and Out of the Box Entertainment (the producing entities) to those of victims.

On June 25th in Brent, Albama these artists will perform the first of a series of free live events. Donations will be recieved, and 100% of the proceeds from sales of merchandise and concessions will also go directly to the victims of these storms.

If this venture has the success we are planning, the project will begin donating money to other rural areas which were affected by these storms and are being overlooked due to the attention of major cities.

We hope you support our cause and RAGE WITH US!

If It Rains...We Rage On!

A lot of people are looking at the forecast for this weekend which calls for a chance of a passing summer shower or two.  RATW producer, Daniel L. Bamberg has stated that the show will go on anyway.
"Unless we are dealing with lightning or heavy winds there is no reason to delay the concert due to rain," Bamberg stated.  "The stage has a covered roof and three of it's sides will be covered with a backdrop.  For those in attendance there is a covered pavilion in the park and we will have some tented areas as well.  The chance of rain for Saturday as of right now is 50% but meteorologists are suggesting that if we do get rain it will only be a few brief passing showers.  No reason to stop our cause.  So we are asking everyone to come on out, we'll keep you dry and the bands shall play on."

RATW releases very limited special disc for LIVE event auction and raffle.

While producing the Rage Against the Wind album Daniel L. Bamberg decided to allow tracks or versions of tracks which were dumped from the project to be made available on a limited edition CD.  By limited we mean, very limited.  Five of these copies will be raffled off at the Free Concert in Brent on June 25th.  One will also be made available in the "Rage Against the Wind fan basket" for the silent auction.  This release is for those who love and appreciate the music process and in the case of some tracks (those who have a good sense of humor).  As with the original CD, any money earned from this very limited supply will be given to storm victims in rural counties.
RATW LIVE raffles and silent auctions are the only way you can obtain a copy of this special limited release.

Where Do I Get the Rage CD?

A lot of people are asking this very important question.  Where do you get a RATW CD?  Well it's simple....too simple if you ask RATW producer Daniel L. Bamberg.
Rage Against the Wind opened initial sales yesterday with a short 30 minute CD release effort. Bamberg then decided to sell the CD for the remainder of opening week the way fundraisers typically work.  He has been visiting the outsides of establishments with the product for people to purchase.
"At first I thought that idea made us look a little unprofessional, but this whole thing is a grassroots benefit to begin with," said Bamberg.  "The CD is made to look like a bootleg, we are not looking into iTunes and other ways of selling for a reason.  While our goals are not small this is a simple concept.  We are not trying to come off as anything that we are not.  Sitting outside of a gas station in a chair with a box of CDs, a receipt book, and a cash box may seem a bit behind the times, but you know what, it is the way things should be done."
With that being said, Bamberg admits that a more sophisticated approach to selling the CDs will begin after the Free Concert on June 25.  Stores around the area will begin selling the CDs and a more sophisticated online approach may be futile in order to reach the audience the album is trying to get to.  There are a lot of people in other areas of the state that are expressing interest in the CD.
For now other than running into a RATW vendor you can purchase the CD at the Centreville Press office in Centreville, Alabama.  The CD is $10 and features 15 tracks.  For those outside of the county for now, you can send a check or money order for $12 (that's $10 plus $2 s&h) to:

Rage Against the Wind
32 Court Square West
Centreville, Al. 35042

checks - please pay to the order of "Daniel L. Bamberg" indicate "Rage Against the Wind" in the "for" spot on your check.
money orders - please pay to the order of "Daniel Bamberg c/o Rage Against the Wind"

Bret Dailey Rages on WVUA TV

Rage Against the Wind singer/songwriter Bret Dailey, whose haunting vocals and classic acoustic approach on the RAGE AGAINST THE WIND CD creates one of the album's most enjoyable tracks was featured on WVUA-TV's "First at Four." The segment aired on Monday, June 20. Bret wowed the WVUA crew and made those involved in the RATW project proud.
He will be performing live Saturday, June 25th at the Rage Against the Wind benefit concert in Brent at Heritage Park.
"Bret is just getting his feet wet, but his presence is certainly a little more seasoned. His song is amazing and I believe big things will come to him in the future," explained RATW producer Daniel L. Bamberg. "On behalf of everyone working on the Rage Against the Wind project, I would like to thank Danny Salter and all the producers at WVUA-TV. To say that they have been good to our humble project would be the understatement of the year. They have been excited, informed, and very giving to us. Other media have been good to us, but WVUA has gone the extra mile that few will go. I can't thank them enough."

Raging Mishap!

Mishap is a well known and well liked local rock band from Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  Their shows are known to turn quickly into parties and their sound is appreciated by many across the state of Alabama.
Known equally as a live electric band and a tight, dynamic acoustic band they have been wowing audiences for sometime.  Make no mistake about it, when Mishap is on the flyer the joint's going to be packed.
While they earn their living from performing unique versions of hit cover songs, they do have a library of great originals.  Among them is the song, "My Life" which the band has graciously submitted for the "Rage Against the Wind" album.  This thanks to RATW promoter, Zack Sievering.
According to RATW producer, Daniel L. Bamberg this is yet another strong portion of what should be an amazing compilation.
