A Self Made Rage!

Charlie Crew and Chris Pence aren't your typical hip hop duo. Their styles contrast with one another but compliment the other at the same time. Their haunting track, "My Hometown" will appear on the "Rage Against the Wind" compilation CD.

Pence and Crew met each other in school and began working on their act right away. Since then they have been laying down solid tracks and gaining a lot of respect in Alabama, especially in the Autauga/ Montgomery County area.
They perform under the name "Self Made," which Crew explains was a name created in the studio one day. After trying to come up with a name for a while, Crew said "Self Made" just stuck.
Crew is no stranger to tragedy and disaster. He served 4 year in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in both Iraq and Afghanistan during wartime. So when disaster struck his home state just before his service ended on May 13th, he was compelled to help.
"I have always wanted to do a song about our hometown, Billingsley," Crew stated. "I had been looking for the perfect sample to use for it and finally found it. We wrote a beat, then we went to White Wash Productions studio and laid down the rest."

Producers discuss Rage Against the Wind

The "Rage Against the Wind" tornado relief compilation CD is now in post production.  Set to be released on Monday, June 20th it has been generating a lot of buzz with only a small sample of what is available on the album being in the public.

Rage Against the Wind producers, Daniel L. Bamberg and David Coffin have become increasingly confident in the final product as the heavy task of distribution approaches.

FGL Rages Outside the Line

Florida Georgia Line has been described as a band where country soul meets rock n' roll. This dynamic duo, comprised of members Tyler Hubbard of Monroe, Georgia and Brian Kelley of Ormond Beach, Florida, combines electrifying, hard-driving rock with honest, expressive lyrics for a modern country sound that is evocative of country's most recent superstars Jason Aldean and Lee Brice.

They recently released an EP recorded in Nashville, entitled "Anything Like Me" which is climbing the country charts.  Their shows are infused with energy and they have quickly become a respected up and coming group.

Recently, they submitted their track, "The Man I am Today," to the Rage Against the Wind benefit CD, solidifying a modern country artist on a CD which houses a variety of musical genres in hopes of raising money for storm victims in rural Bibb County.  For more information visit their  website or find them on facebook

Raging Rockarts!

He's a poet, a singer/songwriter, a photographer, and we hear he can cook. Why is Nathaniel Rockarts so talented? Who knows, we are just excited that he is lending a portion of those talents to the "Rage Against the Wind" benefit CD.
Nathaniel is from Tuscaloosa, the heart of one of the most devastated areas struck by the April 27th storms. He was in Tuscaloosa when the storm hit. Only a few days into the aftermath Rockarts took a pen and paper and released the emotions of what he saw in a powerful work of poetic prose entitled, "This Hope Inside."
Initially he was contacted about providing the poem for the inlay of the CD, but producer Daniel L. Bamberg then decided to ask Rockarts to speak the piece to music. On June 9th Rockarts entered a friend's studio in Tuscaloosa and did just that, providing RATW with an appropriate introduction to what has become a deeply inspirational benefit music compilation.
"I remember several years ago going through something personal and finding a piece of paper on the ground which read, 'If you have Jesus that is all you need.' I kept that paper in my wallet until the ink faded," recalls Bamberg. "Nathaniel's poetic work reminded me of that moment.

Kellen's haunting voice stands out on Rage Against the Wind

Kellen Green, whose stage name is simply, "Kellen" entered the White Wash Productions studio in early June with a confidence that is typically not present for someone who has little time invested inside a recording facility.

The initial idea of producer Daniel L. Bamberg was for Kellen, whose voice is haunting and dynamic, to perform a unique version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."  Kellen instead showed he and producer David Coffin lyrics to her original song, "Second Best."  It was then decided that the "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" idea should be scrapped.

After Kellen laid down vocals to her own song, Coffin who appears on the album under his hip hop stage name, White Wash decided to work with her for the CD's title track.  Kellen's chorus and verse to that song were written by Bamberg.  

"What she put down in the studio was not anything like what I thought the song would sound like," explained Bamberg.
