What's the Rage?

On April 27th several severe storms and tornadoes touched down across the southeast shattering lives and homes. The state of Alabama received the majority of the damage. The state is still in the grips of the devastating reality and the numerous casualties. We are rebuilding but with so much destruction it is a slow process.

Due to the widespread tragedy and horrendous damage statewide most of the attention is understandably going to the more densely populated areas such as Tuscaloosa and Pratt City. Yet there are so many rural communities which were also affected by this panic. Among them are the rural communities of Eoline (Bibb County) and Sawyerville (Hale County).

Rage Against the Wind is an idea formulated by a handful of local musicians and others who wanted to make a difference, but in a unique way - by bringing a youthful spirit to the fight to rebuild what was taken in a brief moment.

On June 20th the Rage Against the Wind benefit compilation album featuring several Alabama artists, many from the Bibb County area, will be released to the public. 100% of the proceeds from this album will go to storm victims in the counties of Bibb and Hale. No money will be donated to any organization, rather it will go directly from the hands of White Wash Productions and Out of the Box Entertainment (the producing entities) to those of victims.

On June 25th in Brent, Albama these artists will perform the first of a series of free live events. Donations will be recieved, and 100% of the proceeds from sales of merchandise and concessions will also go directly to the victims of these storms.

If this venture has the success we are planning, the project will begin donating money to other rural areas which were affected by these storms and are being overlooked due to the attention of major cities.

We hope you support our cause and RAGE WITH US!

Producers discuss Rage Against the Wind

The "Rage Against the Wind" tornado relief compilation CD is now in post production.  Set to be released on Monday, June 20th it has been generating a lot of buzz with only a small sample of what is available on the album being in the public.
Rage Against the Wind producers, Daniel L. Bamberg and David Coffin have become increasingly confident in the final product as the heavy task of distribution approaches.
"I am not sure what it was that we envisioned in the beginning - when this was just an idea, but it has surpassed my expectations in lengths it would take forever to measure," stated Bamberg.  "I placed such a short deadline on the shoulders of the producer and musicians and never really gave any real thought to how much pressure that would be on them.  Amazingly and to their tremendous credit, we have a solid product - one that will definitely surpass even the highest expectations of those who are aware of this project.  This will not sound like the chaotic rushed effort that it is.  Instead, listeners are going to hear the progress of hard work, enthusiasm, and a passion for the cause that motivated this project."
100% of the proceeds from the album will go to the direct benefit of tornado victims in rural Alabama.  Producers, Bamberg and Coffin as well as many of the musical acts are from rural areas and have made Bibb and Hale Counties their first goal.
"If this thing just sky rockets we are going to be able to help out many rural areas which are not receiving the attention they normally would," explained Coffin.  "Our first priority is for these two counties which are either our home or our direct neighbor.  There are many without homes.  But this album doesn't reflect the suffering.  The songs which were written about the storm are to motivate and to display Alabama's pride and perseverance.  One thing about the South, actually one thing about the United States is that we can and may bend, but we refuse to break.  That's the album's ultimate message."
Bamberg expressed that no certain song really stands out over another, but that there are some songs which are directly related to April 27th while others are songs about other topics.
"I don't want people to expect an album with 15 tracks all about the storms," Daniel said.  "That simply isn't the case.  There are about 6 songs on the album which are about the storm.  Many of these songs are about - well, the things that songs are usually about - love, life, and love life.  There are songs that seem to excite me more than others when I discuss them with others but in truth when I have time to look at the project in it's entirety, nothing shines above another.  We are covering 8 genres.  We are covering various topics.  We are housing 14 musicians.  It's a project that could have easily been a disaster itself but through the courage and compassion of these artists, as well as a tremendous humility to place their egos aside, came something for rural Alabama to be proud of.  This isn't my project.  It isn't David's project.  It isn't a project belonging these artists.  It belongs to Alabama, our home, and one of the loves of our lives."
