What's the Rage?

On April 27th several severe storms and tornadoes touched down across the southeast shattering lives and homes. The state of Alabama received the majority of the damage. The state is still in the grips of the devastating reality and the numerous casualties. We are rebuilding but with so much destruction it is a slow process.

Due to the widespread tragedy and horrendous damage statewide most of the attention is understandably going to the more densely populated areas such as Tuscaloosa and Pratt City. Yet there are so many rural communities which were also affected by this panic. Among them are the rural communities of Eoline (Bibb County) and Sawyerville (Hale County).

Rage Against the Wind is an idea formulated by a handful of local musicians and others who wanted to make a difference, but in a unique way - by bringing a youthful spirit to the fight to rebuild what was taken in a brief moment.

On June 20th the Rage Against the Wind benefit compilation album featuring several Alabama artists, many from the Bibb County area, will be released to the public. 100% of the proceeds from this album will go to storm victims in the counties of Bibb and Hale. No money will be donated to any organization, rather it will go directly from the hands of White Wash Productions and Out of the Box Entertainment (the producing entities) to those of victims.

On June 25th in Brent, Albama these artists will perform the first of a series of free live events. Donations will be recieved, and 100% of the proceeds from sales of merchandise and concessions will also go directly to the victims of these storms.

If this venture has the success we are planning, the project will begin donating money to other rural areas which were affected by these storms and are being overlooked due to the attention of major cities.

We hope you support our cause and RAGE WITH US!

Thank You for Raging with us Live!

Statement from Rage Against the Wind organizer/producer, Daniel L. Bamberg

I would like to begin by thanking everyone who has purchased the Rage Against the Wind CD so far.  The response has been overwhelming from those who have purchased and listened to this product which so many worked so hard on.
It is difficult to discuss our very dismal turnout to Saturday's live event.  It was certainly a lesser turnout than we had expected and not anywhere near the turnout we had hoped for.  It would be pointless to make assumptions as to why the turnout was so small, so I won't bother with that for now.
For all of you who did attend this free event to support local musicians and donate whatever you could to our cause for storm relief in rural Alabama you have our upmost respect and appreciation.  Each one of you means a great deal and for those who have helped spread the word to those who did not attend and express that they missed something fantastic, we love you all.
None of these hard working musicians deserved the experience of such a small turnout from their own community, but I have tremendous pride in their professional demeanor to perform as if there were hundreds or thousands looking on.
To Victoria Hallman who traveled 9 hours roundtrip for our event, and our event only we deeply appreciate not only your time, but your extreme patience as well as the many things you donated to this cause.
To Gadsden's powerful young 4 piece ensemble, Halfway to Hindsight who traveled nearly 5 hours roundtrip for our event and our event only we deeply appreciate your time, your inspiring performance, and your ability to captivate our small humble crowd.  We hope to work with you guys in the future and will be watching each of you on a journey that is sure to end in a big following.  Consider the entire RATW crew fans for life.
To "Lost in Sound" who traveled about 4 hours round trip for our event and our event only, who gave us an enormous discount and put on the single most professionally produced live show to ever hit Bibb County in my lifetime, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.  Many of these artists have been performing for years and have never experienced what it is like to sound at their best.  You guys are awesome.  Not only will we be seeking your services again but we will spread the word as long as you guys are around.
To KeKe and her crew who jumped on board at the last minute when other acts could not live up to their obligation, thank you for starting our show off with one of the most inspiring performances of the day.  We will be seeing you again soon.
To Gary Morris for his last minute commitment to the project in light of acts not living up to their obligations, we thank you for providing us with the spiritual lifting and humble sounds of your music.  You will never know how much that meant to this cause and to our artists.
To Santa Claus who showed up in the heat and sat through the entire show with a faint amount of people to experience your charm, thank you for raging with us and making Christmas in June possible.
To Bibb County Commissioner Ricky Hubbard of Hubbard Electric who helped out with the power at the last minute when other things fell through we appreciate your service to this community.
To Daniel Payne, our Master of Ceremonies for fighting the heat, getting the word out, defending the cause, and for putting on a heck of a show.
To Victoria Hallman, Lulu Roman, Donna Douglas, Matt Murphy, Richard Dixon, Larry and Rita Griffin, Sherwood McMillan, Representative April Weaver, Matt Hartzell, Vicky Sievering, Tommie Carlee, Zack Sievering, Ryan Thompson, Russell Bamberg, Tracy Schwenter, Stefanie Elliot, Toni Russell, Donna Kornegay, Ashantis Harris, Helen Atkins, Janie Russell, Jeff Russell, Kenneth Watkins, Linda Renn, The Centreville Press, Southern Charm Catering, The Eoline Volunteer Fire Department, The Brierfield Volunteer Fire Department, The Bibb County Extension Office, The City of Brent, The Eoline Community, River Bridge Restaurant, The Haven, McMillan Tire, Hubbard Electric, Griffin Body Shop, This N That Productions, White Wash Productions, Jones' Marathon, Office Depot, JVC, Lost in Sound, WVUA-TV, Mary Calurso and the Birmingham News, ABC 33/40, G&H Building Supply, Bibb Supply, The Wild Flour, The Eoline Soap Box, and all the members of the Raging Volunteer Army who helped and those who showed up.  THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING OUR CAUSE IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER YOUR COMMITMENT WAS A BLESSING!

To the performers: KeKe, Gary Morris, General Lee (Lance Kornegay, Brandon Hendrix, Ross Nichols), Justin Keys, Bret Dailey, Self Made (Chris Pence and Charlie Crew), Kellen (Green), Halfway to Hindsight (Rebekah, Ian, Tucker, and Mcalister), and David (White Wash) Coffin THANK YOU FOR RAGING AGAINST THE HEAT, THE WIND, AND PUTTING ON A FANTASTIC SHOW!

We would also like to personally thank Michael Ray Britt whose inability to perform was not for selfish reasons but for an unforseen family tragedy which happened on the day of the show.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

We would also like to thank Hunter Lawley whose inability to perform was a mutual decision based upon a very hectic Saturday schedule.  Hunter wanted to perform but with gigs at 3 p.m. in Hoover and 9 p.m. in Dadeville there was not a window that would have garaunteed him a spot.  Also we thank Hunter for his donation of CDs and band memorabilia for our auctions/raffle.

And additional thanks to David Coffin for donating his own CDs for purchase which sold like hot cakes.

For the acts who were scheduled to perform at the live event but gave excuses rather than reasons or were too disorganized to let us know what was going on in advance, we thank you for your considerations and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

FINALLY...
To those who showed up to witness the event live, to those who truly wanted to attend but could not due to previous commitments or other unforeseen occurrences we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and hope you will look to attend upcoming RATW events in the future.

Birmingham News pushes the Rage!

Our favorite print reporter, Mary Colurso of the Birmingham News recently wrote a wonderful piece about our cause.  You can view it in the Friday, June 24 edition of the Birmingham News or see it on Al.com
"I am extremely pleased with the job Mary Colurso did and am ecstatic about the amount of copy that was lent to our cause," said RATW prouducer Daniel L. Bamberg.  "I would like to take this time, just a day before the concert and what is sure to be our first peak CD sales day, to thank every media outlet who has composed something or given us time.  We contacted all of them, but only a few took the time to cover it.  To WVUA-TV, The Birmingham News, ABC 33/40, The Richard Dixon Show and the Matt Murphy Show - thank you for your time and effort."

Raging Guests at RATW LIVE!

For Saturday's (June 25) Free Concert in Brent at Heritage Park organizers have lined up 11 great musical acts, activities for kids, food, and recently announced some big guests!

Self proclaimed Mayor of Eoline, Daniel Payne (left) will be the Master of Ceremonies for the event which runs from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m.
(center) Nashville star, Victoria Hallman (Buck Owen's Buckaroos and Hee Haw) will be on hand to sign autographs and take photos with fans.  Photo opportunities and autographs are $5 each, all money goes to storm victims in Bibb County.
Rage Against the Wind has landed the North Pole's biggest star. (Right) Santa Claus, the real life Santa Claus will be on hand to meet and greet the children.  We know it is June, but he will be dressed in Santa's summer outfit.
Also there will be a special guest to sing the national anthem to open the show, the identity of this person is being kept secret at this time.
"I am not keeping it secret because it is some huge star," said RATW producer Daniel L. Bamberg.  "It is more or less the idea of forcing those intrigued to come see for themselves.  There are going to be more than a few surprises at the show and we are trying to keep our aces in our sleeves.  As far as Santa Claus, to some this may seem silly but let's be honest, the guy is booked pretty heavily in December.  Sometimes he does the Christmas in July thing - so the way I see it, Rage Against the Wind is the first entity to book Santa Claus in 2011.  That's a pretty big deal.  I mean he's a busy guy and he is taking a moment away from his summer vacation to come see the kids at the RATW concert.  I mean, how many times do you get to see Santa Claus in June?"

DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE POSSIBLE SCATTERED RAIN WE WILL KEEP YOU DRY AND IT WILL PASS!

Early Raves of Rage!

As of this post's composition Rage Against the Wind has sold earned $400.  Considering that the album has only been sold after hours at the Centreville Press office and outside of Marathon in Brent, this is an amazing quick response.  Many have expressed they will purchase the CD at Saturday's show.  More remarkable than anything else however is the rave reviews the CD is earning already.

"Just wow!," said State Representative April Weaver.  "I expected this to be enjoyable but was literally blown away.  I am extremely proud to know we have the kind of talent that this CD displays in Bibb County."

"Absolutely awesome," said Mike Oakley of Centreville.  "This is an amazing compilation of some very diverse talents I am excited about how this thing turned out.  Fantastic cause with a great product."

"There is something for everybody on this CD," said Carol Belcher of Six Mile.  "It's really a wonderful CD and when people hear it I think this cause is going to raise a tremendous amount of money for storm victims."

"I am so amazed, not only at the early enthusiasm but that my fears have not come to light," said RATW producer, Daniel L. Bamberg.  "I was afraid many would get the CD and skip through it without giving a chance to appreciate the entire project.  There is no doubt that most people are going to like some songs more than others, and certainly everyone will find a track or two they may not listen to more than once, but everyone should give a full listen regardless of their musical taste in order to see what went into this project.  I am proud of every artist on the album and trust me, I don't like some of these genres because of my taste.  But I know every song on our album is powerful and serves their said genre well."

If It Rains...We Rage On!

A lot of people are looking at the forecast for this weekend which calls for a chance of a passing summer shower or two.  RATW producer, Daniel L. Bamberg has stated that the show will go on anyway.
"Unless we are dealing with lightning or heavy winds there is no reason to delay the concert due to rain," Bamberg stated.  "The stage has a covered roof and three of it's sides will be covered with a backdrop.  For those in attendance there is a covered pavilion in the park and we will have some tented areas as well.  The chance of rain for Saturday as of right now is 50% but meteorologists are suggesting that if we do get rain it will only be a few brief passing showers.  No reason to stop our cause.  So we are asking everyone to come on out, we'll keep you dry and the bands shall play on."

RATW releases very limited special disc for LIVE event auction and raffle.

While producing the Rage Against the Wind album Daniel L. Bamberg decided to allow tracks or versions of tracks which were dumped from the project to be made available on a limited edition CD.  By limited we mean, very limited.  Five of these copies will be raffled off at the Free Concert in Brent on June 25th.  One will also be made available in the "Rage Against the Wind fan basket" for the silent auction.  This release is for those who love and appreciate the music process and in the case of some tracks (those who have a good sense of humor).  As with the original CD, any money earned from this very limited supply will be given to storm victims in rural counties.
RATW LIVE raffles and silent auctions are the only way you can obtain a copy of this special limited release.

Where Do I Get the Rage CD?

A lot of people are asking this very important question.  Where do you get a RATW CD?  Well it's simple....too simple if you ask RATW producer Daniel L. Bamberg.
Rage Against the Wind opened initial sales yesterday with a short 30 minute CD release effort. Bamberg then decided to sell the CD for the remainder of opening week the way fundraisers typically work.  He has been visiting the outsides of establishments with the product for people to purchase.
"At first I thought that idea made us look a little unprofessional, but this whole thing is a grassroots benefit to begin with," said Bamberg.  "The CD is made to look like a bootleg, we are not looking into iTunes and other ways of selling for a reason.  While our goals are not small this is a simple concept.  We are not trying to come off as anything that we are not.  Sitting outside of a gas station in a chair with a box of CDs, a receipt book, and a cash box may seem a bit behind the times, but you know what, it is the way things should be done."
With that being said, Bamberg admits that a more sophisticated approach to selling the CDs will begin after the Free Concert on June 25.  Stores around the area will begin selling the CDs and a more sophisticated online approach may be futile in order to reach the audience the album is trying to get to.  There are a lot of people in other areas of the state that are expressing interest in the CD.
For now other than running into a RATW vendor you can purchase the CD at the Centreville Press office in Centreville, Alabama.  The CD is $10 and features 15 tracks.  For those outside of the county for now, you can send a check or money order for $12 (that's $10 plus $2 s&h) to:

Rage Against the Wind
32 Court Square West
Centreville, Al. 35042

checks - please pay to the order of "Daniel L. Bamberg" indicate "Rage Against the Wind" in the "for" spot on your check.
money orders - please pay to the order of "Daniel Bamberg c/o Rage Against the Wind"

Bret Dailey Rages on WVUA TV

Rage Against the Wind singer/songwriter Bret Dailey, whose haunting vocals and classic acoustic approach on the RAGE AGAINST THE WIND CD creates one of the album's most enjoyable tracks was featured on WVUA-TV's "First at Four." The segment aired on Monday, June 20. Bret wowed the WVUA crew and made those involved in the RATW project proud.
He will be performing live Saturday, June 25th at the Rage Against the Wind benefit concert in Brent at Heritage Park.
"Bret is just getting his feet wet, but his presence is certainly a little more seasoned. His song is amazing and I believe big things will come to him in the future," explained RATW producer Daniel L. Bamberg. "On behalf of everyone working on the Rage Against the Wind project, I would like to thank Danny Salter and all the producers at WVUA-TV. To say that they have been good to our humble project would be the understatement of the year. They have been excited, informed, and very giving to us. Other media have been good to us, but WVUA has gone the extra mile that few will go. I can't thank them enough."

FIRST LOOK AT THE RATW CD COVER

The CD releases tonight (June 20th) at 6:30 p.m. to Bibb County citizens who by all stories seem to be gnawing at the bit to hear what all the Rage is about.  Throughout the week there will be a broader release and information regarding where you can get a copy will be released tomorrow.  For those of you who are not able to make your way to the location of tonight's exclusive release, here is a peak at the cover art.

Raging Mishap!

Mishap is a well known and well liked local rock band from Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  Their shows are known to turn quickly into parties and their sound is appreciated by many across the state of Alabama.
Known equally as a live electric band and a tight, dynamic acoustic band they have been wowing audiences for sometime.  Make no mistake about it, when Mishap is on the flyer the joint's going to be packed.
While they earn their living from performing unique versions of hit cover songs, they do have a library of great originals.  Among them is the song, "My Life" which the band has graciously submitted for the "Rage Against the Wind" album.  This thanks to RATW promoter, Zack Sievering.
According to RATW producer, Daniel L. Bamberg this is yet another strong portion of what should be an amazing compilation.

Third Time a Charm for Oktober's Raging 'Pale Rider' Ballad

Oktober is an unknown songwriter who has been writing lyrics, poetry, and other forms of verse for quite some time. A little over, a decade ago he wrote a song entitled “Came a Pale Rider” which was about another tornado that struck Alabama.
“I was working outside of an area hit by storms and passed by storm damage everyday for a while.
"I was in a band then. So when I got home I wrote two songs about my feelings about it,” explained the songwriter.
“Came a Pale Rider” comes the old saying “behold a pale horse” and Oktober expressed that his love for Clint Eastwood movies had a bit to do with that, as well as his own biblical awareness.
“I would rather not delve into the meaning of the song,” said Oktober. “The lyrics can be taken in many ways. So I would rather anyone who hears it to interpret it their own way.”
The song was originally written for a punk/metal band, Oktober was then fronting but was scratched when the band broke up.
He then lent his song to singer/songwriter Michael Ray Britt for an album project recorded in Nashville. Britt transformed the original version into an old style country/western song.
“When I heard Michael’s version I immediately fell in love with it,” explained Oktober. “Michael actually recorded 3 of my songs and ‘Came a Pale Rider’ was my favorite of those. When I decided to lend the song to Rage Against the Wind I envisioned it the way Michael recorded it.”

Michael Ray Britt - Rage of a seasoned gunslinger

Michael Ray Britt might as well have been born with a guitar in his hand. He's been playing so long that it is hard to imagine a time he didn't have a guitar in his hand. He's recorded in major studios, mediocre studios, and home studios. He has performed for large audiences and small audiences. Britt's music has been heard in countries some people can't spell. He is one of the most well known unknown to ever come out of central Alabama.
For nearly a decade Britt was well known by many in the working music acts across the south. A raging (no pun intended) guitarist and ultimate perfectionist, he has wowed the unwowable (and we are pretty sure we just made that word up).
Yet with all the talent he possesses and all the respect he has earned, Michael Ray Britt has never been able to grab onto that star. Between service in the U.S. Army and raising a family he allowed his dreams to become secondary.
In 2010 Britt and some local musicians including RATW promoter, Jeremy Crowson (bass) formed a new band with a new sound. "Pull" combines the imagination of true heavy metal with the southern flare that Britt has always possessed.

Hunter Lawley - A Working Musician Rages

Hailing from the Heart of Dixie , Hunter Lawley has established himself as one of Alabama's most entertaining musicians. It is a trying task to nail his sound to any particular genre. He's country infused, with a rockabilly attitude and can rock with the best rock musicians.
His inspirational song, "Walk On" will be featured on the "Rage Against the Wind" tornado relief album. Hunter was contacted by RATW executive producer, Daniel L. Bamberg about appearing on the album and graciously hopped on board, allowing Bamberg to select from a variety of HLB originals.
"Hunter's work is exactly as advertised," said Bamberg. "He is a blue collar musician, and by that I mean a working/career musician. This is his job and he seems very dedicated to the integrity of live performance. I am thrilled to have him on this album. There were some other great tracks he submitted but 'Walk On' is a perfect blend of the ingredients I hear in Hunter's music. It also fits this cause perfectly."
As a full time artist, Hunter Lawley has wowed audience all over the southeast, opening for acts such as Cross Canadian Ragweed, Eric Church, BlackBerry Smoke and Tony Joe White. Playing in some of the biggest venues in the country, such as Workplay Theatre, The War Eagle Supper Club and The Flora-Bama, he captivates crowds with his energetic performance and unmatchable stage presence.

White Wash and Kellen Rage on Talk of Alabama

White Wash and Kellen performed their song, "Rage Against the Wind" during ABC 33/40's morning program "Talk of Alabama." According to RATW executive producer, Daniel Bamberg the show went well despite technical issues. The audio back track for the duo failed to feed into the studio but was still fed through to people viewing on television. Because of this, White Wash and Kellen were forced to perform live with no idea of where they were in the song.
"Strange things happen on live television," explained Bamberg. "We in no way hold ABC 33/40 accountable for the audio difficulties. You can be the most professional and well rounded producer and something can still go awry. I was tremendously proud that David (White Wash) and Kellen did not let the audio problems stop them. They were amazing with all things considered and maintained professional poise."
Bamberg expressed his appreciation for the producers at 33/40 and Talk of Alabama in promoting the RATW cause.
"Ultimately looking at the segment it wasn't great but this is not about us as individuals it is about our cause," stated Bamberg. "I deeply appreciate ABC 33/40 for finding the time to help promote our message. There are still many people in Bibb and Hale Counties who are in need of help in various ways. Due to so much devastation across the state a lot of the rural areas are fending for themselves in terms of awareness. The Red Cross has visited, FEMA has visited but much of the help in these areas is coming from our local EMA, Police, Churches, and community leaders. So our cause was generated to add to that small but determined army of inside help. Any moment major media gives to this campaign is both necessary and appreciated."
Presumably due to the obvious audio problems ABC 33/40 has not placed a video of the performance on their website. Bamberg explains that this is probably a good thing.
"We were looking forward to the blog posting the video until we actually saw it for ourselves," said Bamberg. "I believe ABC 33/40 exercised proper discretion in not posting it online. They seemed to feel pretty bad about how things ended up. I think they ultimately didn't want technical issues to reflect poorly on these amazing artists. If you saw it, you saw it. If you didn't see it, that is probably a good thing. Regardless, we still deeply appreciate the opportunity to promote the cause."

White Washing Against the Wind!

David Coffin has smelled the edge of success before, but each time it happens, something goes awry.
"Its the nature of the business," explained Coffin.
With his on stage name, White Wash he has performed in front of crowds as small as 3 and as large as 300. He has performed across the state of Alabama, places in Florida, places in Georgia, and in New York. Despite immediate praise and promises of recording contracts, he has yet to hit. This isn't because he isn't marketable but because White Wash will not dumb down his intellectual and socially conscious lyrics for mainstream hip hop.
"I have a love/hate relationship with hip hop," said Coffin. "I love the roots of the musical form. I love the sound of true underground hip hop. When rap is meaningful or at the very least lyrical it is very inspiring. When it's about selling shoes, degrading women, and making drugs, it is cliche and ignorant."
In his small hometown of Centreville, Alabama David has a sorted reputation. Some still see him as the punk kid who once rapped about his anatomy at the age of 15. But, David "White Wash" Coffin is a grown man these days. He's 22 years old, and is now a seasoned performer, producer, and lyricist.

A Self Made Rage!

Charlie Crew and Chris Pence aren't your typical hip hop duo. Their styles contrast with one another but compliment the other at the same time. Their haunting track, "My Hometown" will appear on the "Rage Against the Wind" compilation CD.
Pence and Crew met each other in school and began working on their act right away. Since then they have been laying down solid tracks and gaining a lot of respect in Alabama, especially in the Autauga/ Montgomery County area.
They perform under the name "Self Made," which Crew explains was a name created in the studio one day. After trying to come up with a name for a while, Crew said "Self Made" just stuck.
Crew is no stranger to tragedy and disaster. He served 4 year in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in both Iraq and Afghanistan during wartime. So when disaster struck his home state just before his service ended on May 13th, he was compelled to help.
"I have always wanted to do a song about our hometown, Billingsley," Crew stated. "I had been looking for the perfect sample to use for it and finally found it. We wrote a beat, then we went to White Wash Productions studio and laid down the rest."

Justin Keys promoting RATW on WVUA-TV

Justin Keys whose song "Closed Captions" is featured on the "Rage Against the Wind" CD was on WVUA-TV's "First at 4" to promote the upcoming album. He later performed.

FGL Rages Outside the Line

Florida Georgia Line has been described as a band where country soul meets rock n' roll. This dynamic duo, comprised of members Tyler Hubbard of Monroe, Georgia and Brian Kelley of Ormond Beach, Florida, combines electrifying, hard-driving rock with honest, expressive lyrics for a modern country sound that is evocative of country's most recent superstars Jason Aldean and Lee Brice.
They recently released an EP recorded in Nashville, entitled "Anything Like Me" which is climbing the country charts.  Their shows are infused with energy and they have quickly become a respected up and coming group.
Recently, they submitted their track, "The Man I am Today," to the Rage Against the Wind benefit CD, solidifying a modern country artist on a CD which houses a variety of musical genres in hopes of raising money for storm victims in rural Bibb County.  For more information visit their  website or find them on facebook

Raging Rockarts!

He's a poet, a singer/songwriter, a photographer, and we hear he can cook. Why is Nathaniel Rockarts so talented? Who knows, we are just excited that he is lending a portion of those talents to the "Rage Against the Wind" benefit CD.
Nathaniel is from Tuscaloosa, the heart of one of the most devastated areas struck by the April 27th storms. He was in Tuscaloosa when the storm hit. Only a few days into the aftermath Rockarts took a pen and paper and released the emotions of what he saw in a powerful work of poetic prose entitled, "This Hope Inside."
Initially he was contacted about providing the poem for the inlay of the CD, but producer Daniel L. Bamberg then decided to ask Rockarts to speak the piece to music. On June 9th Rockarts entered a friend's studio in Tuscaloosa and did just that, providing RATW with an appropriate introduction to what has become a deeply inspirational benefit music compilation.
"I remember several years ago going through something personal and finding a piece of paper on the ground which read, 'If you have Jesus that is all you need.' I kept that paper in my wallet until the ink faded," recalls Bamberg. "Nathaniel's poetic work reminded me of that moment.

Kellen's haunting voice stands out on Rage Against the Wind

Kellen Green, whose stage name is simply, "Kellen" entered the White Wash Productions studio in early June with a confidence that is typically not present for someone who has little time invested inside a recording facility.
The initial idea of producer Daniel L. Bamberg was for Kellen, whose voice is haunting and dynamic, to perform a unique version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."  Kellen instead showed he and producer David Coffin lyrics to her original song, "Second Best."  It was then decided that the "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" idea should be scrapped.
After Kellen laid down vocals to her own song, Coffin who appears on the album under his hip hop stage name, White Wash decided to work with her for the CD's title track.  Kellen's chorus and verse to that song were written by Bamberg.
"What she put down in the studio was not anything like what I thought the song would sound like," explained Bamberg.

Justin Keys Rages in "Closed Captions"

Justin Keys is a blues based, alternative singer/songwriter and amazing guitarist.  On May 27th he entered White Wash Productions studio in Centreville, Alabama to record his original song, "Closed Captions," for the upcoming "Rage Against the Wind," tornado relief benefit CD.
The song according to Justin has a very mid-nineties feel to it.  He cites influences from that decade along with some modern acts such as, "Death Cab for Cutie," and "Arcade Fire" for the song.  Yet, the song sounds nothing like any of those acts, only the most discriminating of musical fans will be able to point out the influence.
Keys who is nearly certain for generating a buzz has been playing the guitar since age 12, is only just kicking off his career.  He also laid down guitar for two other songs featured on the RATW compilation, "Came a Pale Rider," by Oktober which is featured in the RATW promotional video, and "Second Best," by Kellen.
He will be performing live at the "Rage Against the Wind" free benefit concert on June 25th in Brent, Alabama.  He is also performing at "Eoline Fun Day," Saturday, June 11 at 1 p.m.  Catch this up coming guitar hero before he makes a name.
